(This restaurant is listed as Italian on City Search – however, I would have called it more modern Australian/European type food.)
We went here to celebrate with some friends of ours who got engaged. I have been here once before, years ago for a xmas party and we had a set menu, so I was keen to see what they had on the actual menu. Veggie wise, it wasn’t too bad – especially if you like mushrooms… There were 2 veggie entrées (a portabello mushroom and a cauliflower soup) and 2 veggie mains (mushroom risotto and pumpkin (?) ravioli with a sage and burnt butter ‘sauce’). You could have the mains as an entrée – but that would severely limit your main course choices if you are vegetarian! The food was great! The servings were not huge, but that was good because it left room for desert! Martin went for mushrooms all the way, but I had the alternatives and the ravioli was fantastic! At first I thought it would be expensive, but at the end of the night, between 5 of us and including 2 bottles of wine, I think it was very reasonable.

I love Mexican and Tex-Mex food – Montezuma’s is one of only a few such places in Canberra, and it is pretty good. We have been here quite a few times and they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes on the menu, so there is plenty of choice for us veggies! The mixed dip combo as an entrée is great, especially if you are sharing with friends as we were… I was bold this time and had the hard tacos. I usually avoid this dish as I like my tacos a certain way – not too sloppy, and with enough cheese and lettuce to keep it all together – and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised… They didn’t fall apart and they weren’t sloppy! And I didn’t hear too many complaints from my fellow diners who were having veggie and chicken burritos. Of course, a bonus here is the jugs of flavoured margaritas (of which we had two), and happy hour makes it even cheaper! And the chocolate mouse for desert was certainly not Mexican or Tex-Mex, but was a perfect finish to the meal!

We have eaten in and had takeaway from this Indian restaurant in Dickson a number of times. After the first time we ate here, we were thrilled that there was finally a really good Indian restaurant that was easy for us to get to! Obviously, being Indian there is a large variety of veggie food, but there are some new things as well as the old favourites! My old favourites include Malai Kofta and Palak Paneer, but new favourites from this restaurant include Dahl Bollywood and Vegetable Jalfrezi. They also do a great vegetarian entrée platter for 2, which is definitely worth ordering… They aren’t afraid to try out a bit of “fusion” cooking either and if you are game, then try the sundried tomato naan! I can’t bring myself to try it, I’m a stickler for the garlic variety, but Martin had it once and thought it was pretty good.
